Random Acts of Kindness and Community
Service Projects
What a beautiful
neighborhood we live in. I'm sure you've
seen all the improvements that have
been going on - the refurbishment of the
guard houses, the beautification of the
esplanades and the repair of the sprinkler
systems to name a few. OK, so you can't
actually see all the improvements - but
they're going on. And there is so much more
to do!
Many times one small task, an hour of
work, can serve to really change the
impression that others have when driving
through Champion Forest. That's where random
acts of kindness and community service
projects come in. What better way to serve
your community than by doing a community
service project right in your very own
community? What better way to give your day
a real feel good boost than to do some small
task to help another resident or to improve
a common area.
If you know of any resident
who might benefit from a random act of
kindness such as having the green stuff
blasted off their front porch, or a dead
bush removed, let me know. Small kindnesses
such as these benefit the entire community
and often times an elderly resident cannot
perform this alone. Another resident may not
wish to hire a landscaper or pressure washer
to do just one small thing. I'm certain we
can help each other if we help identify the
needs. I'd love to hear from all the scout
troops and church youth groups in this
neighborhood. I hope you'll sign up to be
"on call" helpers as needs are identified.
I'm also seeking contractors,
landscapers, pressure washers, window
washers and repair men who might be willing
to offer the neighborhood residents a
discount when several contract to have like
services performed on the same day. This
saves the contractor money, it saves us
money and makes it easier for us all to
maintain our property; which in turn keeps
our property values at their optimum.
