Each year the CFWC hosts a December
Holiday Luncheon and Auction to
benefit a selected charity or
charities. Generous donations to the
auction are made by local businesses and
attendees have a wonderful time
celebrating the holidays and visiting
with friends while hoping to take home
one of the many auction items.
In December 2007, the 27th Annual
Holiday Luncheon & Charity Auction was
held at nearby Shirley Acres.
The event benefited an
organization called
SIRE
which stands for “self-improvement
through riding education”. The
mission of these Houston-based
Therapeutic Equestrian Centers is to
“improve the quality of life for people
with disabilities through horseback
riding and related therapeutic
activities.”
On that day over 220 women gathered to
participate in the auction and enjoy a
fashion show provided by Talbot’s
and Siena Salons. Thanks to the
hard work of Auction Co-chairs Linda
Peters and Susan Barris and
Donations Chair, Karla Canchola,
we are pleased to report $10,000 was
raised for SIRE that afternoon.
We’d like to thank all those businesses
and individuals who donated to the 2007
Auction making it a tremendous success!
