The Story of Champion Forest

Champion Forest, is a prestigious, wooded retreat in the heart of northwest Houston, in the Klein district and built around nature and family, value, and community. Adjacent to Cypress Forest PUD Park and its lovely trails.

Champion Forest’s combination of beautiful homes, rich natural environment, and neighborhood spirit make it a dynamic place to live. The development of Champion Forest began in 1976, driven by the efforts of a local developer, Don Hand of Greenwood Properties. Aiming to develop the premier subdivision in north Harris County, it began with the purchase of 900 acres of farmland to build a subdivision that would become a hallmark for communities throughout Houston. Since that time, the neighborhood has prospered and thrived while still retaining its natural history. Birdlife still migrates to the area that was designated an official bird sanctuary in 1980.

Twenty-five miles northwest of downtown Houston, Champion Forest is close to everything, founded around Champion Drive, north of Cypresswood Drive and south of Louetta Road. What is not immediately available within the community is only a short distance away via US 249, and Interstate 45, with the Hardy, the Sam Houston, and the Grand Parkway toll roads providing convenient alternatives for an easy commute across the city.

Champion Forest offers a variety of lifestyle options from patio homes and comfortable family homes to the expansive mansions lining Cypresswood. European -influenced traditional-style homes on quiet, tree-lined streets, feature spacious floor plans accentuated by high ceilings, elegant formals, and high-quality finishes. All the homes feature at minimum, double garages, and large lots, many with swimming pools and patios. Enforced deed restrictions help maintain the quality, value, and charming ambiance of the neighborhood.

School students living in Champion Forest attend schools in the Klein Independent School District. Our elementary students attend our ‘neighborhood school’ Brill Elementary which we are proud to say has a Dual Language Program in Spanish and English. Brill’s playground, running track, and soccer field is a perfect family fun destination located in the center of the neighborhood. Middle School students attend Kleb Intermediate and then Klein High School, offering opportunities and advancement to our high school students.

The neighborhood is graced with nearby places of worship, walking, and cycling paths, football, soccer, and softball fields, basketball and gymnastics facilities, swimming and tennis clubs, golf courses, parks, and fishing ponds, and a variety of neighborhood clubs and groups of interest.

Champion Forest residents benefit from an active, strong HOA board and social network, working together to sponsor seasonal events from the 4th of July Parade to the Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Happening, and the subdivision National Night Out. The community benefits from Precinct 4 dedicated constable patrols, helping keep Champion Forest safe and secure. The community also has an active water utility board, the Cypress Forest PUD  that oversees our water, sewer and trash service needs and takes care of our lovely neighborhood wooded Cypress Forest Park.
